The bus, carrying students from Charter Tech High School for the Performing Arts, went off the road at mile marker 34 and into a wooded area, according to WPVI TV.

Many of the students on board say a tire fell off the bus and the driver, 54-year-old Christine Williams,  began to pray.

A preliminary State Police investigation confrims that one of the rear wheels became detached from the bus reports WCAU TV but no explanation was given.

"We hit everything and everyone just stampeded off the bus, books were left. It was a wild scene," student Kayzie Burgos told  WPVI TV. Another parent praised Williams' actions. “My daughter did say the bus driver did everything she could not to run into a car or hit the biggest tree possible,” said parent Michelle Griffin.

Most of the students suffered minor injuries and all have been released from several area hospitals according to WCAU TV.
