Nearly 3,000 lives were lost at the World Trade Center as two hijacked airliners were crashed into the towers that day. Another 44 people died aboard Flight 93 when it was brought down in Shanksville, Pa., and nearly 200 were killed in Washington, DC, when a jet struck the Pentagon.

Some 700 New Jersey residents lost their lives that day, 147 of them from Monmouth County, 38 of them from Middletown alone.

The 9/11 Memorial in New York will host its annual reading of the names of all the victims Friday morning. The reading will be streamed live in this post with video from WBCS.
