According to township police, Jeffrey Winiavski, 36, was found with the contraband inside a Chevy Suburban after lengthy surveillance near the Howard Johnson's Hotel on Hooper Avenue on Monday, June 23.

Members of the department's Special Enforcement Team (SET) watched a drug deal in the hotel parking lot around 5 PM, police said. The Suburban matched the description of a vehicle suspected to be involved in narcotics trafficking, investigators said.

Winiavski was pulled over after several driving violations, at which point a search of the SUV yielded 1,508 wax folds, according to police.

He was placed in the Ocean County Jail in Toms River. Bail was set at $75,000 with no option for release on payment of 10 percent.

Police say the SET has seized about 15,000 bags of heroin, with a street value of about $150,000, since January.
