A Heat Advisory is in effect for most of New Jersey from 11 a.m. on Saturday through 8 p.m. Sunday as temperatures in the 90s and high dew points combine for a heat index temperature of 100 degrees.

Mercer, Gloucester, Camden and Burlington counties are specifically under an Excessive Heat Watch as temperature will feel at least 102 degrees.

Salem, Atlantic, Cape May & Cumberland counties are not under an advisory but it will be nearly as hot and humid in those areas as well.

There is also a chance at thunderstorms on Sunday afternoon and evening. That threat will increase again as the week goes on.

It is recommended that you drink plenty of fluids, stay out of the sun and check on relatives and neighbors.

The heat will continue for much of the week as temperatures stay around 90 degrees. Forecasters say there could be a return to more wet weather at the end of the week.

There is also a moderate risk of rip currents at the ocean beaches today. Swimmers only swim when a lifeguard is present and not swim alone.
