Accident Snaps Utility Pole, Closes Route 9 [PHOTO]

Traffic on Route 9 by Church Road and Sunset Avenue in Toms River is reopened after an accident last night resulted in an car striking a pole and overturning, closing the road all night.

Police report that a car operated by Ramon Rego was driving southbound when his vehicle crossed into the northbound lane, hitting a pole and flipping over. He was sent to Community Medical Center. Power was temoporarily lost in the area.

Police say they received a call minutes before the accident from a concerned citizen that the vehicle was driving recklessly southbound on Route 9 crossing over into the oncoming lanes.
