The newest patrolman in the Manchester Police Department brings with him a remarkable record of accomplishment in a very short time.

Adam R. Carey took his oath during the May 26 public meeting of the Township Council, with his family and friends attending along with fellow officers and Chief Lisa Parker.

The Toms River native holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from Albright College in Pennsylvania, where he matriculated after graduating Toms River High School North in 2008. He served as an assistant football coach at High School North, and also volunteered in children's athletics, while attending college.

Carey signed on as a Class I Special Officer on the Seaside Heights force in September 2014, and two months later became a jail guard for the Toms River Police Department. He completed training as a Class II Special Officer at the Ocean County Police Academy in Waretown on May 19 of this year.

Next up for Officer Carey is 12 weeks of field training and evaluation, followed by patrol assignment.
