Alleged Toms River mobster sentenced for cocaine distribution

A Toms River man suspected of ties to organized crime is sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison in connection with cocaine distribution.

Mario Galli, 24, described by New Jersey U.S. Attorney Paul Fishman's office as an associate of the DeCavalcante crime family of La Cosa Nostra, pleaded guilty to one count of distribution of more than 500 grams of cocaine.

In a Newark federal courtroom, Galli was also ordered to serve three years of parole supervision and pay a $1,000 fine.

Galli was one of nine arrestees in March 2015. He subsequently admitted that between that point and the previous December 12, he sold more than a half-kilo of cocaine to an undercover FBI agent for at least $78,000.

The probe entailed investigators of the FBI, New Jersey State Commission of Investigation, Waterfront Commission of New York Harbor, and the Union County Prosecutor's Office.
