New Jersey State Police have canceled an Amber Alert that was issued for a 3-year-old girl last seen around 2 p.m. in Essex County. The suspect, who police say was arrested, was considered armed and dangerous, according to authorities. The child was recovered and is safe.

The child, Rebecca Valenzuela, was allegedly taken by her father, identified as 51-year-old Diomedes Valenzuela. They were last seen heading south on I-95 in New Jersey in a silver 2004 Dodge Caravan.

According to CBS New York, the alert was issued late Tuesday afternoon, after police alleged a man stabbed a woman and fled with their 3-year-old child in the Bronx. The 31-year-old woman, believed to be the wife of Diomedes Valenzuela, was found in an apartment on Bedford Park Boulevard with multiple stab wounds to her neck and body around 1:45 p.m. Police said they believe Valenzuela stabbed the woman in a domestic dispute then ran off with their child.

According to CBS New York, the mother was still listed in critical condition.
