On WOBM-AM’s Townsquare Tonight, Vicari said he’s running again for the future generations of Ocean County. Vicari explained that maintaining affordable quality education in the county is a major component of that.

“If you look at Ocean County College with our partnership with Kean University, you get a four year degree from a good university for about $30,000. If you look at the Ocean County Vocational School, not only the best in the state of New Jersey, one of the best in the United States. If you go down the block and you look at the Ocean County Library, it’s the best, we get national awards,” Vicari said.

Vicari also touted the simultaneous multi-million dollar infrastructure improvement projects taking place in Ocean County. He credits that the lobbying efforts of a Board of Chosen Freeholder member on the New Jersey Transportation Board with directing the dollars to the region to get work done on the Route 72 span, Route 35 overhaul and a large variety of safety improvement projects on the Garden State Parkway.

“Route 35, in the northern part of our county, is $265 million. The bridge at the Causeway on Route 72 another half a billion dollars,” he explained.

Vicari said that it’s also their goal to keep the county’s quality of life affordable for seniors and middle income families.

Vicari is the only member of the Board of Chosen Freeholders running for re-election this year. He faces a challenge from Democratic candidate and long time Ocean County businessman Timothy E. Ryan.
