Applegate Farms chicken nuggets recalled

About 4,530 pounds of chicken nugget products under the Applegate Farms label are under recall for possible plastic contamination.

According to information from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety Inspection Service, Perdue Foods LLC initiated the recall for eight-ounce boxes of "Applegate Naturals Chicken Nuggets," produced on September 28, 2015, with an expiration date of September 27, 2016.

The boxes bear establishment number P-2617 inside the USDA inspection seal. They were shipped to distribution sites in New York, Pennsylvania, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, and Texas.

Customer complaints of small, solid, clear plastic pieces led to the recall, but so far no related ailments or injuries have been reported, according to the USDA.
