A suspended Asbury Park police officer and his sister appear headed for trial, indicted on charges related to insurance fraud.

Alix Antoine, 37, a 12-year member of the force, faces second-degree counts of official misconduct, conspiracy to commit official misconduct, and insurance fraud, plus a third-degree charge of tampering with public records, according to the office of acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Chris Gramiccioni.

Patricia Louis, also knownas Patricia Antoine, 43, of Clifton, is charged with second-degree conspiracy and insurance fraud.

Antoine posted $150,000 bail after his arrest in June 2015, and was ordered to surrender his passport and firearms. Patricia Louis was released on her own recognizance and also instructued to give up her passport.

Antoine allegedly falsified applications to enable his sister to get medical coverage to which she wasn't entitled, investigators said.

Convictions for second-degree charges carry possible sentences of five to 10 years. Third-degree charges are punishable by three to five years.

A conviction for official misconduct would give Antoine a mandatory five years without parole, and five to 10 with a five-year parole ineligibility, plus three years of parole supervision after release, authorities said.

Antoine is represented by Freehold attorney James Fagen. Louis has retained Thomas Martin of Red Bank. The state's case is headed by Monmouth Assistant Prosecutor Jennifer Lipp.
