Christopher Angelil, 42, was charged June 26 after a dogged investigation that stretched on since the original report on April 9, police said.

On the night of April 8, Angelil told authorities that he was accosted at a Bank of America drive-up ATM at about 9:45 PM, saying that he was stripped of his cash and phone, police said.

Followup investigations by Officer Christopher Brady and Detective Matthew Jackewicz led to Angelil's arrest at Ocean Township police headquarters, on a charge of filing a false report.

He was released on a summons and his case will be heard in municipal court, police said.
