Bad Workers, Good TV and Great Soccer
Why is it that places that sell New Jersey lottery tickets refuse to take the time to train their employees on how to work the machine?
If you don’t want to be bothered then don’t have one of those green machines in your store. Plus, tell your people not to treat those who want to play lottery games like Pick-3 or Powerball like second-class citizens. Some of them have this disgusted look on their face when you tell them you want to purchase lottery tickets.
There are a lot of really good TV dramas to choose from and probably about 6-8 which we watch regularly including Homeland, The Black List, Betrayal, Hostages, Chicago Fire and Parenthood. However at the top of the list has to be The Good Wife which has a great cast, headed up by Julianna Margulies and enticing story lines every episode. By the way I just found out that Betrayal is being cancelled at mid-season…oh well!
If you are going to win a state championship there is nothing better than doing so against a team that nobody really expects to you beat. That’s the task facing the Toms River South Girls Soccer team who reached the Group 3 State Finals after topping Somerville last night 2-1 in a semifinal game played at Toms River North. Freshman Katie Hammack scored in the first half off a terrific cross from Taylor Troutman and it was Troutman who made it 2-0 in the second half before the Pioneers scored their only goal.
Taylor Dean preserved the lead with six saves for the Indians who on Saturday morning will face two-time champion Northern Highlands in the Group 3 title game at The College of New Jersey. The Highlanders, the top ranked team in the state, extended their unbeaten streak to 71 games with a 2-1 win over West Morris.
I must be getting old because I just can’t find myself excited about the NBA which of all pro sports seems to be the one that best suited for the younger generation. Maybe it’s because I’m a Knicks fan and I long for the days of Frazier and Reed and not Carmelo and J.R. Like I said,I must be getting old.
