Bamboozle To Asbury Means Major Economic Boost [AUDIO]

Flickr User _Rockinfree

The highly popular Bamboozle Music Festival is coming back to Asbury Park in May of 2012.

It’s expected to do wonders for tourism and the local economy. City officials are closely monitoring ticket sales for that very reason.

Names like Jon Bon Jovi, The Foo Fighters and Blink-182 will take the stage while everyone fills the tills. The city has a guarantee of $200,000 for the use of the beach and a portion of the waterfront. In addition, they will be getting extra cash for ticket sales once the total hits a certain threshold. This is promising to be a huge event for the community and can do wonders for tourism at the Jersey Shore.

Asbury Park City Manager Terry Reidy says it’s not just about the money. He says “we are truly changing for the better in this city. Things are safer than ever before, there’s more development and plenty to keep men, women and children of all ages busy and happy. They’ll be coming back for years to come.”

The 10-year-old concert hasn’t been in Asbury since 2003. It will feature about 100 acts performing on several stages around the beach and boardwalk. In addition to money from tickets, Reidy says the local business will definitely benefit.

Reidy says “while people are entertained by the music, they’ll be staying in our hotels, eating in our restaurants, buying in our shops. There’s a benefit to all in this.”

The event is scheduled for May 18th, 19th and 20th. Ticket sales begin this Saturday, December 17th!
