Circumstances surrounding a Barnegat Light man's death are under scrutiny by Ocean County investigators.

The lifeless form of Richard Doody, 60, was found at about 4:52 PM Monday in his Central Avenue dwelling by Long Beach police, according to information from the office of County Prosecuctor Joseph D. Coronato. He was pronounced dead at 7 PM.

The officers were conducting a welfare check based on a report that Doody had not been seen for two days. Investigators did not indicate who placed the call.

Doody's home was cordoned off until a search warrant could be issued, and investigators began interviewing neighbors.

Anyone with information that can help authorities learn the conditions that led to his death can reach the Prosecutor's office at 732-929-2027.

Officials would not confirm speculation of the involvement of a weapon., but the Prosecutor's Major Crime-Homicide unit is involved along with the Sheriff's Crime Scene Investigation team, the County Medical Examiner's office and Long Beach police.
