The parents of two children reported small bites on their arms prompting the search. Carl Fink, President of the Lakewood School Board, tells the Asbury Park Press he expects school to be open as usual this morning. "We will do everything necessary. The safety of the children is paramount," he told thepaper.

Parent Lonnie Smith says one of her two children that attend the school came home with the bites on her arm. She tells the Asbury Park Press she spoke to six neighbors who all said they had heard of bed bugs at school.

Bedbugs were reported in the school's library in 2011; the school was reopened a day after the bugs were treated.
