Ronald Dunn, 85, was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune after the 9:26 AM incident at an intersection, according to Ocean police.

Officers filing the report said that Dunn's bike and the rig, driven by Gualberto Santiago, were both eastbound on Park Avenue at the junciton of Norwood Avenue, where Santiago stopped for a red signal.

Once the signal changed, Santiago negotiated a left turn. Police said that Dunn, traveling in the opposite lane and against the flow of traffic, entered the intersection and hit the side of the truck. The truck ran over the bike, police said.

Authorities didn't elaborate on the volume of traffic, and did not indicate whether Dunn was helmeted, or whether Santiago engaged a turn signal.

Long Branch and Ocean officers responded. The continuing investigation is headed by Officer Phil Jackson and Sergeant Todd Gregory.
