Weithenauer, a graduate of Toms River South,  fell to his death from a ledge in Morganville, West Virginia early Sunday where he was a sophomore at West Virginia University.

The  viewing will be on Thursday at Anderson and Campbell in Toms River from 2PM-4PM and from 6PM-9PM. His family asks donations be made to the Lakewood Outreach Ministry Church in lieu of flowers.

Weithenauer was “a bright student” and “a popular young man in the prime of his life,” Becky Lofstead, West Virginia University’s vice president of communications, said in a statement. “Truly, this is a sad situation — a tragedy to lose someone so young,” Lofstead said. “Our hearts and prayers go out to the Weithenauer family and Brian’s many friends.”

He was a pre-business student and a member of the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity according to the school, which will provide transportation for his parents to travel to campus.

The university will ring a bell on campus in memory of Weithenauer, its tradition for honoring students who lose their lives.
