Can Mother Nature Quiet Down?

Sitting on the patio with a cup of coffee in my hand, reading a good book, while the puppies are running around the backyard playing. It sounds like Heaven right?  Well only if Heaven sounds like a orchestra of tiny bugs screeching all around my patio.

It is so loud I can't even concentrate on what I'm reading, so once and for all I must know what is making these sounds?  I've been told Cicadas, Grasshoppers, even Tree Frogs...but please don't say Tree Frogs.  Because all I can imagine is a good strong breeze blowing and one falling into my coffee with a splash...ew gross.

I understand this is one of Mother Natures beautiful sounds, but if they could turn it down a few decibels just enough that I can hear myself think would be nice .
