Sundays in the fall for me are pretty much a time to unwind after what’s usually been a hectic week and my favorite pastime is to be firmly entrenched in my favorite seat by 1 p.m. to watch the NFL Red Zone. However I can sometimes be persuaded to change the routine especially when I know the really nice fall days will soon be replaced by the reality of winter.

The Lingering Impact of Superstorm Sandy

The date itself may not stand out like 9/11 or December 7th but clearly October 29th is one that thousands of Jersey Shore residents will likely never forget. It is the third anniversary of Hurricane or Superstorm Sandy striking our area with a fury whose impact can still be seen today and will so for years to come.

The Fall Classic and Sleep Deprivation

For more than 36 years my alarm clock has gone off somewhere between 2:22 a.m. and 2:50 a.m. and sleep has often taken a back seat when it comes to a choice between that and say watching a game.

Ya Gotta Believe: 2015 edition

It’s easy to forget that the Mets were in the World Series fifteen years ago because as is often the case they had to take a backseat to the Yankees who beat them in five games.

A Great Weekend in Baltimore

While it’s not always easy because of my schedule I make sure to attend at least one Penn State football game every fall and to keep that streak going it was off to Baltimore this past weekend where the Nittany Lions played Maryland at M&T Bank Stadium which is home of the NFL’s Ravens.

Things to Stop Saying

We all know someone (in some cases several people) who just have this ability to get under our skin. Most of what they say and do is harmless but at times their actions just annoy the heck out of you.

A Night for Scholars and the Mets

The theme of last night’s Toms River Student Loan Fund Recognition Dinner was supposed to be the honoring of the 19 current Teachers of the Year in the Toms River Regional School District along with three outstanding high school seniors.
It actually was although the Master of Ceremonies made it sound like the evening centered on ending everything by 8:07 p.m. which just happened to be the scheduled first pitch of game five of the Mets-Dodgers National League Playoff Series. Sometimes things come together perfectly on all accounts.
