Christie was ”just not feeling well at all” according a press release put out by the political group Committee of Seventy. In a statement later, Christie spokesman Colin Reed explained in a later press release the governor was “fighting off a cold and has had to cut back his morning schedule tomorrow” according to the Star Ledger.   He is scheduled to appear at an event at Newark Liberty International Airport at 11:30 a.m.

600 people were expected to attend the breakfast fundraiser in Philadelphia for Committee of Seventy, a non-partisan watchdog organization that, according to their website, “works for effective, efficient government to benefit all citizens and create a better future for our region.” The group describes itself as “fiercely non-partisan” and does not endorse candidates.

The group alternates between Republicans and Democrat speakers in order to preserve its non-partisan mission.  “I think, as we know from the last time when he came in 2010, Chris Christie speaks what’s on his mind,” said Committee of Seventy vice president and policy director Ellen Mattleman told the Philadelphia Inquirer in anticipation of his appearance.

Seventy donated food that would have been served at the breakfast “to those in need” according to the press release.
