Coast Guard crews have rescued a 60-year-old man who became disoriented while boating in waters off Manasquan.

Arthur Gingrich, whose hometown wasn’t disclosed, contacted the Coast Guard around 6 p.m. Friday to report he had lost control of the 28-foot boat due to high winds and 8-foot waves. At the time, he was about five miles offshore of the Manasquan Inlet.

An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City soon arrived on scene and hoisted Gingrich to safety.

He was taken back to the air station and later transferred to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center’s Mainland Campus in Pomona.

Officials would not disclose further details on Gingrich’s condition on Saturday. And it wasn’t known if he was still hospitalized.
