Driver Killed in Route 70 Head-On Collision
A Cape May Courthouse man was killed when his Dodge Caravan crossed into the opposite lane on Route 70 and hit another car head on.
Calvin Cossaboon Jr., age 50, was pronounced dead at the scene near Manchester Boulevard after side swiping another Caravan and then hitting a westbound Ford Taurus driven by Maureen Cullinane, age 64, of Whiting head on. Cullinane and her passenger, Evelyn Randall, age 58, of Newark, were flown via MONOC medical helicopter to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune.
The force of impact destroyed the front ends of both cars according to the Manchester Patch.
Cullinane is listed in critical condition while Randall is stable.
The accident and initial investigation closed Route 70 for four hours into the afternoon commute.
Manchester Police have not offered an explanation as to why Cossaboon drifted and continue their investigation into the accident.
