Driver sought in Beachwood hit-and-run investigation

A Beachwood 17-year-old survives after being run down by a car in the borough Monday night. Police are combing through leads to find the driver.

Police said they're in search of a white sport-utility vehicle, resembling the one in the photo accompanying this story, in connection with the incident that occurred about 9:45 PM.

Investigators place the incident on Beachwood Boulevard at Capstan Avenue, and believe that the vehicle sped east on Beachwood Boulevard in the direction of Barnegat Bay.

The teenage girl was transported by ambulance to Community Medical Center in Toms River for treatment.
