Jevon I. Cotte, 24, flew through the sunroof of his 2001 Mazda Tribute as it overturned on Route 571 at Seminole Street, according to township police.

He was rushed to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune. Officers said that Cotte was not wearing a seat restraint.

Joseph M. Diperi, 23, of Manalapan, the other driver, was belted into his 2011 Nissan Altima, and declined treatment after being evaluated by Manchester First Aiders.

The first report arrived at 1:11 AM. Investigating officers determined that the Cotte was eastbound on 571, and Diperi was turining left onto the highway from Seminole, when the impact occurred.

Police did not indicate whether any charges would ensue, but used the incident as a reminder for drivers to heed New Jersey's seat belt law and use caution behind the wheel.
