“State Police, along with all the other police agencies out there, are running extra patrols on weekends, and especially as we get to any holiday weekends,” said Lieutenant Steven Jones with the New Jersey State Police.

He said officers will be looking for and focusing on the type of behaviors typically exhibited by drunk drivers, behaviors mirrored by distracted and drowsy drivers as well.

“They all kind of look the same,” Jones said. “That’s people wandering in and out of lanes, improper passing, and speeds that are not matching the rest of traffic.”
