Michelle Peterson, 31, of East Brunswick, was charged on March 4 with filing a false report, creating a false public alarm, and six road violations led by driving under the influence related to several crashes in the middle of the day.

Officer Evan Androcy was first called to the Wendy's lot in Forked River at 11:56 AM, to look into a hit-and-run report. Callers described a blue car with a woman behind the wheel that hit two cars in the lot and sped away, police said.

While he was responding, Peterson reported that her car had been hit in the lot of nearby Linda's Pizza. Investigators determined that she had hit the cars in the Wendy's lot, driven to the pizzeria, and invented the story she gave to officers..

Peterson's car was impounded, under stipulations of John's Law. She awaits a municipal court hearing.
