Essex County officials raise reward to $20,000 to help solve homicide case

A reward leading to the arrest and conviction of an alleged homicide suspect is raised from $10,000 to $20,000 today for the murder of Newark resident Eric "Uggie" Bowens on November 7, according to the Essex County Prosecutors Office.

Bowens, 44, of Newark was found suffering from a gunshot wound near the 200 block of Bergen Street just before 11 pm on Monday November 7, and was pronounced dead at 11:15 pm that night.

Investigators are urging anyone with information on this homicide to contact the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force tips line at 1-877-TIPS-4EC or 1-877-847-7432.
