Vincent Cicalese, 57, of Point Pleasant Beach, faces a second-degree charge of computer theft and a third-degree theft charge. He was apprehended Friday morning at his home.

Cicalese's bail in Ocean County Court was set at $25,000, with no option for release on 10-percent payment.

Investigators in Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph D. Coronato's office allege that Cicalese withdrew the money through automatic teller machines in the borough during his tenure. They did not specify the length of time over which the alleged transactions took place.

Cicalese headed the league in 2011, when the Borough Council dedicated more than $500,000 in open space trust funds for renovating the ballfields near Route 35 and Arnold Avenue, according to an item in the Point Pleasant Beach Patch.

Cicalese is no longer listed among those directing operations of Point Pleasant Beach Little League. A law-enforcement source tells us that he was relieved of the post during the investigation. Its website lists an acting president.

The second-degree charge carries a possible prison term of five to 10 years on conviction. The third-degree count involves a possible three-to-five-year sentence.

The Prosecutor's Office notes that charges are accusations, and that defendants are presumed innocent unless, and until, an admission, conviction or finding of guilt is reached.
