The Mall's Holiday Job Fair, 12 Noon through 3 PM at center court, presents a chance to latch onto some part-time seasonal work, or to embark on a new career. It's the 16th annual event co-sponsored by the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development.

Stores need managers as well as sales associates, cashiers, stock clerks, loss prevention and food service workers, and more. Time commitments are flexible, and there are employee discounts to stretch your own holiday shopping dollars even further.

Most positions are aimed at applicants age 18 and up, but there are a limited number of spots for 16- and 17-year-olds.

Pre-event registration is ongoing at the County Connection inside the mall. It's useful in cutting down the amount of time needed to fill in forms during the event. There is no specific dress code, but it's best to remember the image that a first impression leaves. Employers recognize the extra effort it takes for clean, sharp appearance. In other words, leave the sweats and sneakers home, break out the biz-casual or better.

Be sure to bring a fresh set of resumes, pen, photo identification, and a winning attitude. High schoolers and young collegians are always encouraged to bring proof of their grade point averages, extracurricular activities and volunteer efforts, all of which point to the kind of character that employers seek in quality new hirees.

Personable, knowledgeable floor-level employees represent a storekeeper's image to shoppers even more than window displays do. If you enjoy meeting people, conducting business and occasionally solving problems, while earning a living, the opportunity awaits. Good luck!
