Fatal shooting in Florence under investigation

FLORENCE - A shooting in an alley takes a township man's life, and the suspect remains at large.

Burlington County authorities are looking for leads in the gunshot death of Ronald Walker, 27, on Zinc Street just after 7 PM on Wednesday, September 21.

Zinc Street is an alley situated between Second and Third Streets.

According to information from the office of Burlington County Prosecutor Robert D. Bernardi, police officers responding to a report of shots found Walker on the pavement, with a bullet wound in his chest.

Walker was pronounced dead at 8:21 PM at Lourdes Medical Center. An autopsy is being conducted today.

Authorities offered no background information about the victim, nor did they indicate whether any witnesses who could describe the shooter were present.
