A 25-year-old man from Galloway Township is facing charges after he was arrested for pretending to be a member of the military on Veterans Day.

On Wednesday, Veteran’s Day, 25-year-old Michael Porter was arrested by Galloway Township Police after he identified himself as a member of the US Army Military Police Airbourne while he was dressed in a military uniform in the area of a military base, not too far from Atlantic City International Airport. Police say he was in possession of a portable radio capable of receiving transmissions from several police departments and emergency dispatch centers and was also in possession of handcuffs and a handcuff key.

Porter was charged with Impersonating Military Personnel / Stolen Valor and was being held on $5,000 bail in the county jail.
