Revel Atlantic City opens for an eight-week preview today.

The $2.4 billion mega-resort spans 20 acres of beachfront space on the Atlantic City Boardwalk.

It features 14 restaurants, two nightclubs and a beach club, and 10 pools.Revel will also have 1,800 guest rooms, retail shops, a 32,000-square-foot spa, two theaters with capacity for 5,050 and 700 guests respectively and a 130,000-square-foot casino.

The rooms each come equipped with tablets to control temperature, window shades and lighting.

The resort, encompassing 6.3 million square feet, stands 47 stories tall and features views of the Atlantic Ocean in all of its guest rooms.

“It’s really the first property to take advantage of what Atlantic City has long been known for…its boardwalk and beach” said Michael Prifti, with BLT, one of Revel’s lead architectural firms.

Revel is also Atlantic City’s first completely smoke-free resort.

“It’s what we call the see and be seen feel at Revel” said Prifti. “Guests can get to their rooms without crossing the casino floor, you can see visitors in line at the club, at the pool as you stand out on the balcony of your room. It was designed so that you wouldn’t have that isolated feel.”

There are also 14 restaurants, ranging in a variety of cuisines.

“There is a steakhouse, an Italian place, some casual sit down spots and a number of top-chefs are running these restaurants including Marc Forgione and Jose Garcias” said Prifti.

Some of the unique aspects of the casino include a landscaped roof-top deck known as “Sky Garden” complete with cabanas and fire pits.

There is an indoor-outdoor pool were guests can swim up and push through glass doors to swim between inside and outside the casino.

“The resort will change from day to night and with the seasons, so each time a guest returns it will be like a new experience.”

There is also what is known as the digi-pit, a section of the casino floor that has catwalks and stripper poles for dancers to perform while patrons gamble on electronic games.

“I think Revel is a game-changer because there is nothing like it in the Atlantic City market” said Prifti.

The grand opening celebration kicks off Memorial Day weekend where Beyonce will be the headline performer.
