Grocery Store Worker Charged in Butter Razor Blades Incident
Holmdel Police charge a grocery store worker with sticking razor blades in sticks of KerryGold Pure Irish Butter at the Best Market at the Holmdel Commons beginning in January.
According to the Asbury Park Press, 22-year-old Nicholas Mignosi of Keansburg was charged with tampering with a food product and released on a summons.
The razor blades were discovered by customers after the butter was purchased January 20th, January 27th and February 1st. As a result, the Food and Drug Administration was notified and all butter was removed from local stores.
Best market officials says the employee has been suspended pending a police investigation. The case is being investigated by Holmdel Police, the FDA, Best Markets and the Irish Dairy Board - makes of KerryGold butter.
