Growth and Kudos for the Shore Sports Network

Not that it would mean all that much to you but my current business card lists me as the Director of the Shore Sports Network and that’s where much of my focus is aimed these days and I’ll be spending even more time on that in the future.

The Shore Sports Network is the brand name for all that Townsquare Media has to offer when it comes to sports programming at the shore and the division is growing rapidly. We are the radio home of the Lakewood BlueClaws, Monmouth University Football and Basketball and of course Friday Night High School Football and the Investors Bank Thursday Night High School Football Show.

All of that airs on News Talk Radio WOBM 1160 & 1310 and we are also the Jersey Shore home of New York Jets football with all the NFL action heard on our 105.7FM.

The newest edition to the Shore Sports Network is our acquisition of All Shore Media and with that a bi-weekly publication that is devoted to high school sports in Monmouth and Ocean County.  You can pick up your free copy at any Super Wawa location in the shore area and the current issue is devoted mainly to boy’s lacrosse.

Of course for those who follow local sports daily there is our very popular web site, shoresportsnetwork.com where you will find coverage of Shore Conference sports from the team of Scott Stump, Matt Manley and Bob Badders.  The site is a must for players, coaches, parents and fans and the response has been very positive.

In addition to all of that there is the WOBM Christmas Classic, a 32-team boys and girls high school basketball tournament held during the holidays at the Pine Belt Arena in Toms River.  The 31st edition of that event is coming this December.

Finally some kudos for a couple of “our guys.”  The National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association just concluded their 55th annual awards program in Salisbury, North Carolina and Scott Stump was on hand to receive his first New Jersey Sportswriter of the Year Award which is a well-deserved honor for the highly-respected writer, reporter and columnist.

Also saluted was the play-by-play voice of the Shore Sports Network as Matt Harmon was honored for the fourth time as the state Sportscaster of the Year although his schedule did not allow him to attend the festivities this time around.  Both are shining examples of why the Shore Sports Network continues to grow and you can be sure there will be more to come in future reports.
