And so we have come to that time of year when we say farewell for a bit as this is the final Hometown View for a couple of weeks.

I have the WOBM Christmas Classic until December 30th, a special assignment and then some well-deserved time off (yes I can say that). It is hard to believe that 12 months have passed since I wished you all the best in 2015 and that time has been filled with joy and sorrow, laughter and tears, good times and bad.

I have learned that as you get older the days, months and years fly by at an alarming rate and while you can’t stop Father Time each year you get to add another number to your age is a good one. As like every year 2015 brought new friends but at the same time had me saying good bye to others with those good byes getting far too frequent.

Ironically we suffered through a miserable and seemingly endless winter in the beginning of the calendar and now as we get ready to turn the final page are wondering when it’s going to feel like winter again. Don’t fret as I’m sure it will be here before too long and every week you don’t have to worry about snow and ice is one week closer to summer. Speaking of which, can we get a repeat of the summer weather we had in 2015 in 2016. That would be something to look forward to.

I hope the teams I root for can provide me with more highs than lows and the New Year finds the Monmouth Hawks not only making the NCAA Basketball Tournament but stunning Kentucky and Lavallette summer resident John Calipari in the first round. I hope the Mets prove that last season was not a fluke and ownership forks over some of the money they made off the World Series run.

I’m looking for a breakout year from Penn State’s Mike Gesicki as the Nittany Lions earn a spot in a New Year’s Day bowl game which I can attend with my family. I sure hope the Giants next coach is as successful as Tom Coughlin and the Rangers don’t need one anytime soon. While I’m in the hope mode how about my Jersey Cash 5 numbers hitting just once.

What I most hope is that those at your dinner table this holiday season are with you next holiday season and all of you are listening to me next December 23rd.
