After responding to the reports on Lanes Mill Road, police investigated the scene for any alleged suspects and to corroborate the report.

Police found evidence nearby to support the reports of a shooting, and spoke with a 38-year old resident who reported hearing gunshots and said he "saw sparks", before seeing two black males bolt from the scene and into a waiting silver Honda Civic driven by a third black male.

The unnamed resident then told police he started on foot after the car, which is when a round of bullets was fired in his direction.

The bullets hit a housing structure where pitbulls call home and,Thomas Nuccio of the Monmouth County SPCA confirms no dogs were harmed or removed.

Howell Police say the incident remains under investigation, and urge anyone who may have additional information to contact the Howell Police at 732-938-4111 or direct message them on Facebook.

The Monmouth County Prosecutors Office also responded to the scene and the County SPCA was notified of the incident as well, according to Howell Police.
