Howell Woman Dies in Belmar Crash
A Howell woman died in an early morning accident on Route 35 in Belmar on Sunday.
A car carrying Edwin Martinez and girlfriend Tiffany Soto was on Eighth Avenue turning onto Route 35 when it was hit by another car driven by Brandi Savastino, 30.
The force of the hit propelled it into several signs at the intersection, knocked over a traffic light and flipped the car over in the parking lot of a marina at the water’s edge according to a News 12 New Jersey report.
Soto, 26, the passenger, was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the car into the water. Tiffany’s boyfriend, who was driving, was hospitalized with a head injury.
Ed Soto told News 12 his daughter was a graduate of Freehold High School.
Route 35 was closed for several hours during an investigation and clean up of the scene. Anyone with information about the accident should call Belmar Police at 732-681-1700.
