Comments that you submit on December 7 helps determine whether the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office successfully completes rigorous accreditation by the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police (NJSACOP)

The public-comment component is an essential part of NJSACOP's best-practices assessment toward the designation signifying top standards of policies, procedures, management, operations and support services.

NJSACOP representatives arrive December 6 to begin on-site evaluations.

County Prosecutor Joseph D. Coronato's staff is judged on 100 criteria. The designation lasts for three years and is subject to annual reports regarding continued compliance.

"Accreditation results in greater accountability within the agency, reduced risk and liability exposure, stronger defense against civil lawsuits, increased community advocacy, and more confidence in the agency's ability to operate efficiently and respond to community needs," he said in prepared remarks.

Comments can be sent by phone (732-831-7900) or via e-mail (kmoore@co.ocean.nj.us) on December 7, between 9 AM and 11 AM. Phone comments cannot exceed five minutes and must address compliance with accreditation standards.
