Jackson Township's school facilities will be getting $13.4 million dollars in upgrades. According to the Asbury Park Press, the district's ten schools are in line for security enhancements that call for new security cameras, the installation of an electric key fob system and an emergency call line directly into the township police department.

Other than security, the projects also call for the purchase of new generators and the installation of an air conditioning system and public address system upgrades for Jackson Memorial High School.

The State Department of Education will be giving the district $5.36 million toward the upgrades as part of $507.7 million dollars distributed to over 300 New Jersey School districts. The state is also providing an additional $485,000 for the security enhancements.

However, there's word that accepting state money could come with risk because the New Jersey School Development Authority is performing an assessment on Jackson that could force them to pay back a portion of the funding.
