Route 18 southbound was closed at Deal Road in Ocean Township for several hours after a car carrier carrying two brand new Ford F-150 pick-up trucks blew a tire around 2 p.m. causing the driver lost control according to the Asbury Park Press.

The carrier hit the guard rail and the trucks rolled off the carrier. One truck wound up upside down and the other slid down an embankment. The Press reports the driver was not hurt.

The road was closed as the trucks were removed causing southbound delays back to Hope Road in Eatontown.

A short time later a car fire on the Garden State Parkway just before exit #98 for Interstate 195 and Route 34 closed all lanes as crews put out the fully-engulfed sedan. At the height of the delay the Parkway was backed up to #88 in Brick before the road was reopened after 4:00 p.m.

The car hit a guard rail and burst into flames according to the Jersey Shore Hurricane News Facebook page.
