NJ State Police are looking for a suspect who may responsible for shooting a dog in Kingwood Township last month.

Police said in a Facebook post that troopers were called to a home on State Highway 12 on Feb. 13 after a resident reported that she discovered a copper BB lodged in her dog's head.

The resident told police she had been grooming "Sergeant" when she discovered a small, hard lump on the dog's head.

NJ State Police said in the post that detective believe the suspect may be an individual who has access to the rural Hunterdon County property.

Police are asking anyone with information that may help with the ongoing investigation to contact the Kingwood Station at 908-996-2864. Tips can also be reported to authorities anonymously.
