According to the Lakewood Scoop, crews started clearing utility polls at the Cedar Bridge Avenue runway this week with the goal of recapturing 500 more feet of the 3,000 foot runway.

The work is part of a larger plan to make the Lakewood Airport more marketable and bring in more business to the township. In previous reports, Lakewood Economic Development Director who's also the airport's Director Steve Reinman says they're also hoping to make the airport more user friendly to the businesses in the Lakewood Industrial Park.

He says, recapturing the additional feet will allow for the landing of small jets instead of just Cesna's and make way for the installation of a Helipad with parking space. There's also plans to surround the airport with retail, restaurants and conference space.
