An early morning fire in Lakewood leaves a six-year-old child dead and injured several people.

Lakewood Police Detective Captain Paul Daly tells TheLakewoodScoop.com the fire that broke out around 2AM on Sterling Avenueappears to be accidental and may have been caused by an electric cooking device.

The 6-year-old and another victim were trapped by the fire and were rescued by the Lakewood FAST team according to TheLakewoodScoop.com.

A 9-year-old boy and the parents were taken to Monmouth Medical Center in serious condition for burns and smoke inhalation while a 2-year-old boy was also taken to Kimball Medical Center.

An investigation continues into the cause of the fire.
