Lakewood man charged in teen sex assault

A Lakewood senior, accused of sexually preying on a 15-year-old girl on February 11, faces charges filed by Ocean County investigators.

William H. Jenkins, 65, was arrested Wednesday on counts of sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child, according to the office of County Prosecutor Joseph D. Coronato.

He was placed in the Ocean County Jail in Toms River in lieu of $250,000 full bail. The judged ordered no contact with the alleged victim, under stipulations of Nicole's Law.

A spokesman offered no details regarding the cirumstances, location, time of day,any possible connection between the two, or whether Jenkins has retained legal representation.

Special Victims Unit Detective Stephanie Bayla and Sergeant Jason Steele obtained search warrants for Jenkins's car and dwelling, and the County Sheriff's Crime Scene Investigation unit processed evidence, authorities said.
