Lakewood Police Investigate Baseball Bat Attack

A Lakewood man walking a dog outside his residence is reportedly assaulted by eight Hispanic men using a baseball bat. The incident occurred just before midnight Saturday in front of the Paris Court townhouse development.

According to the Asbury Park Press, an anonymous caller notified police when the 36-year-old white male victim was found bleeding on the sidewalk. Police say the victim sustained injuries to his head and face in the attack and was transported to the Ocean Medical Center in Brick for treatment. The dog was unharmed in the attack.

There's also word that police recovered the vehicle and bat used in the attack. Officials are probing whether this was a bias attack.
