Leonte Carroo has been reinstated to the Rutgers University football team.

Coach Kyle Flood reinstated Carroo after the senior wide-receiver "agreed to the conditions of his reinstatement and after he accepted the responsibility that comes with his return to the team," according to a two-sentence statement issued by the university. The move comes after simple assault charges against the wide receiver were dismissed late Tuesday.

The conditions of reinstatement were not spelled out in the message from Rutgers.  Flood did not specifically say if Carroo would suit up for this Saturday's home against undefeated Michigan State.

"It was pretty obvious that once assault charges were dropped against him Carroo would be reinstated because Coach Flood said from the beginning that he would not be back on the team until the legal issues were resolved which they now have," said Townsquare Media New Jersey Sports Director Kevin Williams.

Messages left by New Jersey 101.5 for representatives of the Rutgers athletic department Wednesday have not yet been returned.

Flood is currently serving a three-game suspension, which will be completed after the Michigan game.

A simple assault charge against suspended Rutgers wide receiver Carroo was dismissed by a Piscataway municipal judge on Tuesday, the same day a restraining order against the wideout was also dropped.

Carroo had been accused of attacking a woman outside a football game last month — slamming the woman onto concrete and injuring her hip, hands, elbow and head.

But the woman — who worked worked for Rutgers athletics as a recruiting ambassador at the time of the altercation — agreed not to pursue the temporary restraining order Tuesday morning, Carroo's attorney William Fetky said.

Fetky had previously released video he says shows Carroo didn't attack the alleged victim at all. The scene is hectic, but according to Fetky it shows Carroo's girlfriend, Maria Vega — also charged in the incident — being confronted by others including the alleged victim. Fetky has said Carroo's only involvement was to pull Vega away.
