Brandon Dixon, 29, was sentenced Wednesday for the guilty verdict rendered by a jury in April for the 2013 death of Charles Bauer, 23, also of Pemberton, according to the office of Burlington County Prosecutor Robert A. Bernardi.

Dixon was convicted of felony murder, robbery, and desecration of human remains.

New Jersey law defines a life sentence as 75 years. Under New Jersey's No Early Release Act, Dixon will be required to serve 85 percent of the term, or three months short of 64 years, before parole consideration, meaning that he would be eligible at about 93 years of age.

Ryan Sweet, 22, of Pemberton, was sentenced in May to 17 years for aggravated manslaughter. Three others who prosecutors said weren't involved in the death, but who assisted Dixon and Sweet, have been sentenced for desecrating human remains or hindering apprehension.

According to investigators, Dixon and Sweet intended to take Bauer's car. They lured him to a Pemberton house by texting him, and led him to believe that the messages were sent by his girlfriend, authorities said.

In the courtroom at sentencing, Bernardi said, Bauer's mother told the judge that Dixon's family will be able to visit him in prison, but "all I have is a grave to go to."
