A cold front moved through the state overnight turning showers turned into a light snow from north to south as the morning commute got underway.

The snow is not sticking to road surfaces but as drivers return to the roads following  the long Veteran's Day weekend and an extended time off last week for some teachers and students due to the NJEA teachers convention last week there are a number of accidents and slow downs on the slick roads.

An inch of snow may accumulate on grassy surfaces in north Jersey. Light snow is falling across the northeast from New England to the Poconos through Philadelphia and into south Jersey.

No warnings or watches were issued by the National Weather Service relating to the snow but a Freeze Warning is in effect for parts of Union County as temperatures fall into the mid-20s tonight that will kill sensitive vegetation and end the growing season.
