Dylan Percy, 22, of Nugentown Road, was found unresponsive and required extrication from the 2003 Volkswagen GTI that sailed off a curve at Forest Edge Drive and turned sideways, sending the passenger's side hurtling into the tree and embedding the car, authorities said. He was driven by ambulance to AtlantiCare Trauma Center in Atlantic City.

A driver who didn't see the crash, but did see the aftermath, and called 911 at about 11:57 PM and elicited response from Little Egg Harbor police.

Percy's car was apparently headed northbound on Nugentown. The area had the benefit of street light illumination and the road was wet from rainshowers, authorities said.

Coronato's office, the Ocean County Sheriff's CSI squad, and police from Little Egg Harbor and Toms River are reconstructing the incident through a scaled diagram. They're in search of any information that will help determine what caused Percy to lose control of the car.
